About the Role:

We’re looking for a dynamic, hybrid publicist and social media strategist to support Marlon Nichols, General Partner at MaC Venture Capital. Marlon is one of the most recognized and respected venture capitalists in the U.S., celebrated for his investments in energy and innovation, and for his leadership as one of the top African-American investors in the industry.

While MaC VC has an agency overseeing firm-level PR, this role focuses on Marlon’s personal brand — elevating his visibility through earned media, thought leadership, speaking engagements, and digital storytelling.

Responsibilities:

  • Media Relations: Proactively pitch and secure personal press opportunities for Marlon across business, tech, culture, and lifestyle outlets.
  • Speaking Engagements: Identify, pitch, and coordinate high-impact speaking opportunities and panels.
  • Social Strategy: Develop and execute a thoughtful content plan for LinkedIn and Instagram, including:
  • Content calendar and posting cadence
  • Caption writing and creative direction
  • Managing consistency and engagement
  • TikTok Development: Concept and launch a presence inspired by the growing number of VCs using TikTok for education and storytelling.
  • Community Engagement: Potentially post and engage on Marlon’s behalf while maintaining his authentic tone and voice.

Who You Are:

  • Experienced publicist or communications strategist with a track record in thought leadership PR and personal brand building.
  • Deep familiarity with business, tech, and cultural media landscapes.
  • Strong grasp of social media storytelling — especially on LinkedIn, Instagram, and emerging platforms like TikTok.
  • Skilled at managing busy executives’ digital personas with discretion, creativity, and precision.
