The Opportunity 

As a Growth Consultant, you’ll help drive the way our various business units connect with their key audiences, to grow adoption of our products, and help MassMutual achieve its vision of helping people secure their futures and protect the ones they love. In this role, you will focus on paid media, including tasks such as applying insights, running experiments, building models and forecasts, and developing a process to help our business partners succeed in reaching their audiences and achieving their objectives across digital channels. You will work closely with peers and cross-functional stakeholders in analytics, advertising, integrated marketing, creative, and marketing strategy. You will shepherd paid media campaigns throughout their full lifecycle: from input brief and media plan to tactical build, optimizations, and reporting. In other words, you will be a paid digital expert within the Search, Social, and Growth Center of Excellence. 

You’ll need to be flexible, comfortable working at a fast pace, and willing to learn on the job and change on the fly. You’ll need to understand various paid and earned media channels, including organic search and social, and recognize how products and business units’ ladder into a larger brand architecture. You’ll need to have data fluency and a project management mindset. You’ll also need to be responsible for delivering optimizations, insights, and strategic planning while presenting campaigns to internal and external stakeholders. This position requires a strategic thinker who can also develop and implement scalable processes. 

 The Team  

The Customer Activation & Engagement team at MassMutual is located in the innovation hub of Boston – The Seaport District. Within the Customer Activation & Engagement team sits Search, Social, and Growth, a digital-first group responsible for brand and business unit channel marketing. We’re a smallish team, so it’s exciting and unusual that we have open positions.  The Impact 

The Growth Consultant will: 

  • Own and drive digital marketing strategies to deliver results for our brand marketing, financial professionals, 3rd party distributors, institutional, and worksite teams. 
  • Build, communicate, and implement the testing agenda for your discrete digital activations. 
  • Support weekly and bi-weekly performance read outs, offering context and insights to improve campaign performance.
  • Manage digital budgets, forecasts, and invoicing.
  • Own relationships with platform partners, especially in paid social and programmatic.
  • Secure budgets, plan media, set up, QA, execute, and report on campaigns. Including social, programmatic media, and content marketing. 
  • Identify new channel partners that align with business needs. 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of equivalent work experience. 
  • 2+ years of experience in digital/growth marketing. 
  • 2+ years of experience with relevant tools, including web analytics, paid ads managers, social listening, social publishing, SEO tools, google ads, and tag management. 
  • 2+ year of experience running A/B and multivariate split tests.

 

Ideal qualifications 

  • Agency experience a plus.
  • Experience working cross-functionally driving results from within a matrixed organization. 
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced dynamic environment. 
  • Passion for audience and audience experiences, with a demonstrated ability to utilize user research and data to drive actionable insights to inform marketing strategy. 
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build collaborative partnerships with cross-functional teams. 
  • Advanced MS Office proficiency, particularly in MS Excel.
  • Good analytical skills – able to extrapolate information and apply to other areas.
  • Ability to formalize and standardize process flows and quality control procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, including project management and prioritization.
  • Ability to be resilient in the face of changing priorities.
  • Experience with SQL, html, and JavaScript a plus.
