HOW YOU’LL HELP US KEEP CLIMBING (OVERVIEW & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES)

Delta is looking for a talented and detailed-oriented copywriter with a passion for culinary storytelling and menu design to create elevated, engaging copy for our premium cabin menus and inflight dining experiences. The role will support the Onboard Culinary Experience team. The role blends creativity and strategic thinking, requiring a deeper understanding of food & beverage, fine dining, and luxury travel. 

  • Collaborate with the culinary menu design team and business unit partners to write compelling and brand-aligned menu descriptors for our onboard dining across international and domestic markets
  • Write menu descriptions for print and digital menu channels
  • Translate culinary concepts and ingredients into language that is clear, appealing, and culturally sensitive
  • Partner with chefs, F&B culinary design team, brand partners, and caterers to ensure storytelling is consistent with Delta’s culinary philosophy and premium positioning
  • Contribute to menu engineering initiatives by applying consumer psychology and persuasive writing techniques to drive preference and perception and avoid alienation
  • Collaborate with marketing, design and communications teams to ensure menu related information aligns with brand guidelines, tone, and menu template requirements, and audience
  • Edit and proofread menus for clarity, consistency, and cohesion 
  • Support naming and storytelling for limited time offers, wine pairings, chef collaborations, and wellness offerings 

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS)

  • Three to five years of professional copywriting experience, ideally in food & beverage, hospitality, or luxury brand sectors
  • Strong portfolio showcasing menu writing, culinary storytelling, or food journalism
  • Deep familiarity with premium dining, global cuisine trends, target audiences and ingredient sourcing
  • Ability to working a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency in crafting clear, concise, and engaging copy with impeccable grammar
  • Ability to adapt writing style and tone to suit diverse audiences and platforms, with sensitivity to vocabulary limitations that may lead to misrepresentation of food and beverages
  • Occasional travel is required
  • Must be performing satisfactorily in present position
  • Must practice safety conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures

WHAT WILL GIVE YOU A COMPETITIVE EDGE (PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS)

  • Strong understanding of menu psychology and experience supporting menu engineering 
  • Experience working with airlines or hospitability brands
  • Experience with allergen labeling regulatory requirements
  • Passionate about food, wine, and travel

 

Additional Details

*This role will require 20+ hrs./wk for the first several weeks or months, followed by part-time ongoing support.

*This role is generally a remote position but will require travel to Atlanta for initial onboarding
