Who we are

The News Movement (TNM) is a new media business bringing together leading industry figures and young, passionate journalists to help reset how we tell “the news” in an era of declining trust and increasing misinformation. We know that many voices are missing from the present conversation - we want to change that.

We are driven by our purpose - to help millions of people around the world be better informed. We will do that by solving the under-supply of trusted, objective, high-quality news and useful information on social media and other digital platforms.

We are particularly focused on serving younger audiences between 18 and 30 and believe that factual, unbiased journalism can be told in different and exciting ways via the channels that our audiences already enjoy. We want to explain the world and uncover the stories that matter.

We are now looking to recruit a:

Audience Development Lead

The News Movement is looking for an Audience Development lead who will play a critical role in growing TNM’s audience across social channels like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. This person would have prior experience managing and growing audiences for brands (if from scratch, a plus). They should be deeply tapped into internet culture across a wide variety of channels - from niche Discord channels to the most popular TikTok creators.

This role will be the champion for the audience we’re trying to reach in order to increase overall reach while maintaining a strong engagement rate. They should be comfortable with key performance metrics to guide the newsroom on how to build stories that will continue to resonate with our audiences. They will also support the business in three key ways:

Share (owned and target) audience insights to inform our approach to storytelling and our key coverage areas

Advise the daily and long term news agenda by sharing the latest trending conversations across channels

As an expert in social algorithms, disseminate that knowledge across the business

The ideal candidate will be curious, empathetic and an engaged listener with a passion for making an impact through news. They will need to be autonomous and hold themselves accountable for producing work that will directly impact the growth of TNM. This role will report into the Head of Audience, based in NY.


Monitor social/search trends and sentiment in real-time, effectively translating actionable insights for newsroom content

Work with the newsroom to inform daily and weekly trending conversations across platforms

Work closely with the social data analyst to bridge the gap between reporting and performance and inform future decisions

Implement testing frameworks to test hypotheses on each platform

Guide the newsroom on how to best land tentpole original reporting on each platform through SEO, publishing cadence, storytelling arcs

Build strong relationships with platform partners (e.g. Meta, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube) to identify opportunities and gain insights


Strong communication skills is a must

Must have 3 years of experience building and growing social reach for a brand and/or newsroom, especially on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube

Must have previous experience using listening tools like Sprinklr and BrandWatch as well as a solid understanding of social media and content performance metrics

Ability to think strategically and act tactically

Must be tapped into media trends, technology, and the competitive landscape

Knack for taking data points/insights and translating into actionable recommendations

At The News Movement we are creating a newsroom for the future - building a dynamic and diverse editorial team that will deliver quality journalism for the mobile generation.

The Community Manager will understand how modern newsrooms work to get the best out of the next generation of journalistic talent - bringing together reporters and creators, product teams and editorial, designers and video producers as well as experts in community and audience engagement.

We are looking for people driven by our editorial purpose (great journalism matters) and a passion for the platforms our audiences use. On TikTok or Instagram, Twitter or YouTube, Reddit or Telegram, you’ll understand how to tell stories for each platform, and you’ll know what will cut through with audiences.
